Welcome to our most recent podcast for Sound On Sound magazine and their electronic music podcast channel.
This time we are talking about the highly acclaimed new feature length documentary Sisters With Transistors. I chat with the film’s director Lisa Rovner and then the film’s sound designer and award-winning music producer Marta Sologni.
Sisters With Transistors explores the role of women as pioneers of electronic music from the 1920s through to the 1980s.
The film features Clara Rockmore, Daphne Oram, Bebe Barron, Delia Derbyshire, Maryanne Amacher, Pauline Oliveros, Wendy Carlos, Eliane Radigue, Suzanne Ciani and Laurie Spiegel with commentary by Laurie Anderson. I worked on the film as a UK researcher, so its nice to see it through to its public conclusion with these in-depth conversations.
