I’m excited to be getting started with a pilot initiative I have developed with One Education Music.

We are doing a live music performance project using Ableton Live software and their Push controller in a few secondary schools in Manchester. The project gives inspirational and aspirational opportunities to young people, focusing on live performance and how to blend acoustic and electronic elements in their music.

The students will then have the chance to perform and stream their creations live on Reform Radio.

The students were inspired by Push performances by Rachel K Collier (doing lots of live looping) and B Maul (finger drummer). Brian Mauleaon was really pleased to hear he had inspired the younguns:

After working in over 30 primary schools teaching electronic music in Manchester, it’s nice to now be moving in to enabling and empowering at secondary level. News of Reform Radio performances to follow!
