POST EVENT UPDATE:

Mammoth thanks to all who helped make this event a lovely heartwarming evening, a definite glow in the dark (nights). Magic performances by all, wonderful cakes and cuppa’s by Thyme for a Caper, excellent raffle prizes and so many helpful helpers on the night. And we raised just over £800 for Survivors of Torture Relief Fund!! Solidarity ahoy <3 Steaming towards midwinter here, I have cooked up another cosy heartfelt arts event. Inspired by the Solidarity Session set up my musician Aidan O’Rourke earlier this year, the event will be an opportunity for those who care about people and planet to come together.

Solidarity sessions statement

We will be raising solidarity and funds for Survivors of Torture Relief Fund which supports destitute asylum seekers and refugees here in Manchester. I’m currently collecting an array of great raffle prizes from local independent businesses, and Thyme for a Caper will do a pop-up cafe serving up warming drinks and tasty cakes.

We will have live music from a new Manchester superstar band (they would be most uncomfortable with that description!) RISE! who make “epic songs for epic times”. Alongside singer/songwriter Tekla and the wonderful Open Voice Community Choir which I am a member of. I will be making the most of having a grand piano to get my digits on and will play a few songs with accompanying guests (including the choir!) and a we’ll even have a story reading by writer Michelle Green.
