In my role as instigator and project manager of electronic music charity Delia Derbyshire Day, we have an event coming up that explores the realm of artists in archives. Called “For Interest Only”, this free event is supported by Heritage Lottery Fund and co-curated and presented with Digital Women’s Archive North.

“For Interest Only” will feature talks, performances and discussions inspired by the work of Delia Derbyshire Day (DD Day) – to interact with and unlock the fascinating archive of the late great electronic music pioneer Delia Derbyshire (1937-2001). Delia’s archive lives at the John Rylands Library in Manchester. The DD Day organisation and its growing number of supporters believe this is a valuable part of our electronic music heritage that deserves to be made a fuss of. The work of DD Day – commissioning new work alongside designing and delivering electronic music education opportunities – shows this special collection is a rich source of inspiration and education.

So if you are also afflicted with being interested in archives and maybe even strategies for disruption in the area or how heritage is preserved and history is told, come along to our informal thought-provoking event. Materials from the Delia Derbyshire Archive will also be on display.
