2025 has so far mainly found me working with my electronic music charity Delia Derbyshire Day which is 10 years old this year. We have won the lottery again, with Heritage Fund support to carry out events, organisational development/support and career development opportunities for artists, volunteers and a trainee role, as we nurture future cultural leaders.
Thanks to a successful Big Give campaign, we are also carrying out some consultation with primary school teachers and children to explore the potential of electronic music education to help support children’s music education, wider education and well-being. I’m also enjoying influencing the corridors of power with lobbying for more inclusive, decolonised and up to date music education!
I do allow myself a smidgen of celebration as it feels like an achievement for our small charity to have survived and even thrived a bit in the last 10 years, especially when we live in such “interesting times”.
I am carving out creative time to just play, absorb some sonic/musical medicine, free of the pressures of audience pleasing. Maybe I will deem it worth releasing one day.
You can visit Delia Derbyshire Day if you’d like to find out more about this part of my work
