Preparations for our third Delia Derbyshire Day are now in full swing! I work as project manager & co-curator for this event that honours the work and archive of electronic music pioneer Delia Derbyhire (1937-2001). Since DD Day 2014, there has been two fascinating new donations to the archive – experimental art films for which Delia provided the music. Again, Delia enchants and surprises us with her playful and meticulously crafted music – and not just electronic music. So, HOME Manchester was the dream venue for a music and visual arts themed DD Day 2016.
Building on the success and experience of my music technology courses in primary schools, myself and previous DD Day commissioned artist Daniel Weaver have also designed and will be delivering hands-on electronic music-making workshops for families on the day.
